“SQUEAKY CLEAN” AUSTRALIA MAY STOP CHRIS BROWN’S TOUR

Australia may block US singer Chris Brown from entering the country because of his domestic violence conviction even though he has completed the probation period forming the condition of his sentence.

Brown’s announcement last week he would tour in December sparked criticism on social media and an online petition.

Two months after getting temporarily stuck in the Philippines amid a contract dispute, the R&B artist now appears in danger of being refused entry by Australia over his domestic violence record.

Brown, who pleaded guilty in 2009 to assaulting Rihanna, his pop star girlfriend at the time, has four big Australian shows scheduled for December. But activists have been calling on the government to deny him a visa.

The Federal government said on Thursday it was reviewing Brown’s visa application in light of his conviction.

Australia’s Minister for Women,  Senator Michaelia Cash, said the government was not afraid to “say no”.

“People need to understand, if you are going to commit domestic violence and you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you, ‘You cannot come in because you are not of the character that we expect in Australia'”, Senator Cash said.

The government also refused a visa for world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather on similar grounds earlier this year.

I take it there are no criminals in Australia then.
