The UK Nollywood looks set to be here to stay if the number of movies being released weekly are anything to go by. And the industry already had produced its own brand of major homegrown names and starts.
One of such Big names is Helen Adenike Osabutey nee Akeju – popularly known in the industry as Helen Gold.
Helen hails from Ondo State of Nigeria. She started acting as a child with and encouraged by her elder sister Toyin, in the village square of her home town Ajowa, during festive periods.
Helen is a writer, producer, screenplay writer, script developer and actress. She began
her Nollywood career with the big hit Yoruba movie ‘Ito’ which she wrote and produced.
Helen has also appeared in other movies such as Owo oju eegun a Yoruba movie she also produced. Others include Alaimokan and 18 Carat Mama, which she wrote and produced.
Apart from her own productions, other works she has starred in include “Shattered Hearts”, “Shameful Deceit”, “Mum Dad Meet Sam” , “Maa na mi”, “Murderer in law”, “A Mother’s Journey” an d the soon coming UK Nollywood TV series “Housewives and Girlfriends” which are set to hit TV screens in Nigeria in September,
