MADUEKE FINALLY REPORTS BACK TO UK POLICE

Former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison Madueke, on Thursday, finally appeared before police in London, UK.  Diezani was spotted at the Charing Cross Police Station, London to honour the summons by the British Police authorities.

The former minister was granted bail on previously agreed conditions and ordered to return to the station on 21 June.

Alison-Madueke, who was one of the most influential officials in the President Goodluck Jonathan government, was arrested in October 2015 by the UK National Crimes Agency, on charges of money laundering in the United Kingdom using a network of relatives and businessmen. Four accomplices were included in the charge.

President Muhammadu Buhari had repeatedly stated his administration’s commitment and determination to fully sanitize Nigeria’s oil industry and make it totally free of corruption and shady deals.

He had also pledged to begin the prosecution of those involved in corrupt practices in the industry.

Alison-Madueke has stayed away from Nigeria since President Buhari’’s inauguration. It is widely believed that she is in the UK to receive treatment for cancer
