Following the airing of the controversial tv documentary last week portraying and allegedly revealing hidden secrets of the life of the late Pop Music legend Micheal Jackson as a child abuser, there has been a series of reactions particularly from many in the entertainment industry.
TV mogul Oprah Winfrey, previously believed to be a close friend of Micheal, changed her mind drastically after accusations were made. The documentary, Leaving Neverland was aired on OWN, a network that Oprah partly owns.
Radio stations across the world have stopped playing Micheal Jackson’s music and the producers of The Simpsons have removed the Jackson episode from circulation.
The late singer’s two ex wives Debbie Rowe and Lisa Marie Presley have both refused to comment on the latest accusations
Actor Mark Lester also defended the King of Pop over the sexual abuse allegations
The Oliver! star admitted he felt SICK watching explosive new documentary Leaving Neverland and it had not changed his opinion on his late friend.
Lester controversially claimed Jackson was the victim after the Arvizo family “took advantage” of the popstar and called them “hooligans”.
One of the entertainers loyally defending the artist is music executive Clyde Jenkins who took his reaction to social media.
Jenkins twitted before the airing of the programm and commented ” This is just some of the stuff this one sided documentary conveniently left out. Anyone can make a documentary and make it look like it’s the whole truth. It’s not”
Wade Robson… you should be ashamed of yourself!!! You and your family befriended the biggest star in the world. I personally recall your mom Joy calling MJJ Music with a sob story about needing money knowing that Michael Jackson loved her and your entire family and would do anything to help her. Michael especially loved you like a son because you dreamed of being a dancer as your mother took you around Australia impersonating who…. Michael Jackson.
Your family moved to the United States leaving your father behind and Michael gave you a record deal as part of a rap duo named QUO! It FAILED!!!
Michael Set you up with his niece Brandi and you guys were together for several years… until you CHEATED with other woman several Times…. she left you!
You still remained in the Jackson Circle…. Why? Because it opened doors for you being associated with Michael Jackson and his family.
That association with Michael Jackson afforded you the opportunity to befriend such artist as Justin Timberlake and Brittany spears… and what did you do…You started working with Justin as a Choreographer and then slept with his girlfriend Brittany Spears and was FIRED. Justin then wrote a song about it called “Cry Me A River”. And yet you called Justin your FRIEND!!!
You used your association with Michael Jackson to befriend PRINCE and Mayte…. and what did you do…. You slept with HER!!! Some friend you are!!
You use your association with Michael Jackson to get yourself a gig on a television dance show…. word gets out about your previous disregard and loyalty toward high profile celebrities… and what happens…. you get CUT from that show.
Michael Jackson plans his THIS IS IT concert and you BEG to be the choreographer for the show…. Michael Chooses another Choreographer…. what do you do now that your web of lies are catching up with you and you are now Hollywood damaged goods…. You turn on the one man who looked out for you and your family your ENTIRE life and make up child abuse/molestation allegations that you have emphatically stated for many many years….NEVER HAPPENED!!
Fast forward to today… Michael Jackson is sadly NO LONGER with us. You now beg Michaels Nephew Taj Jackson for VIP access to Michael Jacksons funeral for YOU and your entire family. yet you claim this monster molested you…Sick.
You are now considered a home wrecking, disloyal individual and is essentially blackballed from Hollywood. What do you do? Because You know the world knows you are associated with Michael Jackson…. you use that association once again to change your LIFE LONG STORY to now claim… Michael Jackson molested you. Why? because you are BROKE and your wife is demanding you start making money or she will leave you.
You now convince another broke kid from Michaels past (Pepsi commercial) to join you in a frivolous lawsuit against Michael Jacksons Estate for 100’s of Millions of dollars. The courts agree that there is no merit to this lawsuit and dismiss it!!
The Jackson family never fight back when people say disparaging things about their family. Mrs. Jackson once told me when i questioned her about this… she replied “because DIRT sinks and CREAM rises”
Wade knows this to be true as well…. so what does he do? He and James Safechuck concoct a story so salacious, so scandalous so despicable, and presents it to HBO for a one sided EXPLOSIVE televised documentary of LIES… in hopes that the Michael Jackson BILLION DOLLAR ESTATE will settle with you financially to make this documentary go away.
Well that documentary of LIES will air this weekend…. and unlike the Jackson’s past… this new generations of Jackson kids are not having it!! they are suing HBO for airing your lying ass!!
I hope when this is all said and done, the estate counter sues YOU in civil court and WIN! I hope it renders you penniless for the rest of your life. Michael Jackson was good to YOU, your mother Joy and your sister Chantel…. and because your gravy train has run out… THIS is how you repay him. You are a sad excuse for a human being!!!
Sorry for this long post… but knowing what i know I just couldn’t be silent.
For any of you who thought Michael Jackson was strange… I get it… because there is no one else on earth to compare him to. Yes, there are other child stars who grew up to “blend in” to society…and i get it… But when you are Michael Jackson and the only thing on earth that is more recognizable than you is the yellow “M” at McDonalds….. that in itself is “Strange!”
Anyways…. i say… boycott the documentary… and if you MUST WATCH… know that you now know the basis of the scandalous lies contained within the documentary!
Let that man rest in PEACE!!!
Jackson’s estate claims the film breaks broadcasting regulations
Jackson’s estate claimed Leaving Neverland breaks Channel 4’s broadcasting standards. They cite a section of the channel’s guidelines, which are publicly available, that states that if a show makes “significant allegations” then “those concerned should be given an appropriate and timely opportunity to respond”.
“I think we can all agree that the false allegations being made in your ‘documentary’ are ‘significant allegations’,” the letter states, adding that “it is hard to imagine more significant accusations that can possibly be made against anyone”.
Channel 4 – who co-produced the documentary with US network HBO – decide to go ahead with the broadcast.
Jackson’s estate sue HBO for $100 million
The Jackson estate decides to sue HBO over the documentary, claiming that both Safechuck and Robson are motivated by money. The lawsuit alleges that both men, who previously testified on behalf of Jackson, had changed their stories as they were running out of money.
The lawsuit continues: “As you must know, contrary to all norms of documentary filmmaking, the Estate was never contacted by the supposed ‘documentarian’, Dan Reed (or anyone else associated with the programme) to provide the Estate’s view on, and responses to, the absolutely false claims that are the subject matter of the programme.
“Likewise, no one else who might offer evidence to contradict the programme’s premise was consulted either, as Dan Reed has publicly admitted.”
HBO respond by saying they were still going to air the documentary.
Dan Reed continues to defend the documentary
Speaking to The Independent, Reed defends the documentary, saying he approached the project “with all the scepticism and rigour that I would approach a story about a terrorist attack”.
“When children are sexually abused they can form a deep attachment to the abuser,” he says, explaining why Robson and Safechuck might previously have defended Jackson against accusations of abuse. “They often don’t tell the parents, and the abuse often only comes to light when the victims are in their thirties and have their own families.”
Jackson’s estate post concert film to YouTube
During Leaving Neverland‘s broadcast on HBO, the Jackson estate uploads the singer’s Live in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour concert film to YouTube. “Don’t miss the magic from the King of Pop himself! Immerse yourself in Michael Jackson,” Jackson’s official Twitter account wrote alongside a link to the film.
Oprah interviews Safechuck and Robson
A taped interview of Oprah Winfrey with the two accusers airs directing after Leaving Neverland‘s broadcast in the US. “I know people all over the world are going to be in an uproar and debating whether or not Michael Jackson did these things and whether these two men are lying or not lying,” she says.
“But for me, this moment transcends Michael Jackson. It is much bigger than any one person. This is a moment in time that allows us to see this societal corruption, it’s like a scourge on humanity…. if it gets you, our audience, to see how it happens, then some good would have come of it.”
Robson said that, as a child, he had “no understanding that what Michael did to me sexually was abuse. I had no concept of it being that.” He adds: “From night one of the abuse, of the sexual stuff that Michael did to me, he told me it was love. He told me that he loved me and God brought us together… anything Michael would say to me was gospel.”
UK critics react to Leaving Neverland
Following the documentary’s broadcast in the UK, press reviews are posted. The Independent‘s critic concludes: “Jackson told us he was bad; he was evil.” Meanwhile, Lucy Mangan from The Guardian hails the film as “an astonishing piece of work”.
Corey Feldman backtracks on defence
Corey Feldman, who spent time at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch as a child, had defended the singer following the broadcast of Leaving Neverland. However, days later, the actor retracts the comments during an interview on CNN.
“It comes to a point where as an advocate for victims, as an advocate for changing the statutes of limitations to make sure that victims’ voices are heard, it becomes impossible for me to remain virtuous and not at least consider what’s being said and not listen to what the victims are saying — this is very important,” he says.
“We must give them their voice. We must allow them to speak. And therefore, we also must consider all sides of this, even as uncomfortable as that may be.”
Feldman however continues to assert that nothing “inappropriate” happened between him and Jackson.
“Michael Jackson innocent” posters appear in London
Fans of Michael Jackson protest the documentary, claiming the singer is innocent. An advert on the side of a bus reads: “Fact don’t lie. People do.” It also features the address of the website MJInnocent.com, which links to a crowdfunding page for the bus adverts. Jackson fans also protest outside of Channel 4’s London offices.
Jackson songs climb the UK iTunes charts
While Billboard US reports that Jackson’s album sales fell 8,000 following Leaving Neverland‘s broadcast, reports emerge that the compilation album has reached the number 23 spot on the UK iTunes albums charts.
The records The Essential Michael Jackson, Thriller and Bad also make their way into the top 200.
