R Kelly has been accused of luring teenage girls into a sex-obsessed, abusive cult against their will, it has been claimed.
The allegations accuse Kelly of keeping these young women at his homes in Chicago and Atlanta, making them call him ‘Daddy’, taking their mobile phones off them and giving them new ones with restricted use, filming them having sex with him, limiting how many times they are allowed to leave the house and being abusive to them if they break his ‘rules’.Several parents of teenage girls, who they claim they have not seen for months and are now missing, have made sensational claims against musician R Kelly – full name Robert Sylvester Kelly – to BuzzFeed News.
One mother – who goes by the name of J to protect her and her daughter’s privacy – explained to BuzzFeed how her 19-year-old daughter once met R Kelly backstage at a gig of his and he offered to help her launch her career after listening to her CD.
J’s daughter was allegedly then invited to another of his concerts later that month and despite being aware of claims of sexual misconduct made against him previously, J said she felt safe as she was always present when they met.
However, J says it was soon as case of not knowing where their daughter was after she went on tour with R Kelly. She explains how, two years later, they now haven’t seen their daughter since December 1 2016.
While they have contacted the police, as their daughter allegedly lives with Kelly willingly, she is not thought of as a missing person.
J gave an account of the last time they saw their daughter to BuzzFeed, saying: ‘It was as if she was brainwashed. [She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible.
‘I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she’s in love and [Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don’t know what to do.’
In addition to the parents’ accusations, three former employees of R Kelly – Cheryl Mack, Kitti Jones and Asante McGee – back up the reports surrounding R Kelly’s ‘cult’.
Mack, who claims to have worked as Kelly’s personal assistant for a year and a half from 2013, explained to BuzzFeed: ‘The women in Kelly’s entourage initially think, “This is R. Kelly, I’m going to live a lavish lifestyle”.
‘No. You have to ask for food. You have to ask to go use the bathroom. … [Kelly] is a master at mind control. … He is a puppet master.’
McGee added: ‘R. Kelly is the sweetest person you will ever want to meet. But Robert is the devil.’
Both Jones and McGee claim they had sex with Kelly and found him to be ‘controlling’ too.
Reps for R Kelly have been contacted for comment.
