BRITISH ACTOR and Hood Documentary’s Kayode Ewumi will star in a new six-part spoof action-thriller series on ITV2.
Action Team is a spoof spy action-thriller series that follows the exploits of a top-secret team of special agents working for the British government and charged with saving the world.
The 23-year-old, who rose to prominence with hit YouTube series Hood Documentary, which follows a deluded, hopeless – but strangely loveable – aspiring grime MC Roll Safe as he Dressed like a young Eddie Murphy in Delirious – leather jacket and a bare chest – and acting somewhere between David Brent, MC Grindah and Chris Eubank, he guides the viewer through “the hood”, AKA a small area of south London.
Kayode also stared alongside Murder In Successville’s Tom Davis, Jim Howick (Loaded) and Laura Checkley(Detectorists).
The Conventry University graduate was born and raised in Elephant and Castle in London, where he still lives. He is the middle child in a Nigerian-British family that laughed a lot – “My mum is the funniest,” he says. “Like, she’s got jokes”
ITV commissioner Saskia Schuster comments: “Think The Naked Gun meets The Bourne Identityin this high octane, big scale comedy featuring a dysfunctional group of spies. Fast paced, high concept and crammed with silly jokes.”
Paul Mortimer from ITV adds: “Action Team is a great new addition to ITV2’s slate of original comedy and also continues our investment in quality entertainment for younger audiences. Tom and James have a great track record in delivering hit comedy and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them on their latest series.”
Action Team will be shown on ITV2 in early 2018.
