6 Charged Over Fatal Newham Shooting Of Young RAF Cadet

Detectives investigating the murder of Royal Air Force cadet Abdul Mayanja in Well Street, Newham, on 25 August 2017 have charged a total of six people.

The 19-year-old had left home to attend a friend’s barbecue party when he was shot in the street yards from Maryland Station in Stratford. He died in hospital.

Mr Mayanja, a cadet flight sergeant, was scheduled to move to Los Angeles the week after his death to finish his training.

CADET

Sean Obazee, 22, of North Pole Road, W10 and Braeden Henry, 23, of Evelyn Road, E16 were charged with murder on Wednesday, 14 November.

They are due to appear at the Central Criminal Court on Friday, 16 November.

Jade Thrower, 23 was charged by postal requisition on Tuesday, 13 November with perverting the course of justice and Kieron Aransibia, 23, was charged by postal requisition on Tuesday, 13 November with perverting the course of justice.

They are due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 10 December.

Alex Simos, 20, of St Winefrides Avenue, E12 and Marvin Simos, 22, of Claremont Close, E16 had previously been charged with the murder of Abdul Mayanja.

Both appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 12 November and at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 14 November. They will next appear at the Old Bailey on 25 January.

To other people arrested in connection with this fatal shooting have now been released with no further action.
