Housewife Planned Her Own Kidnap To Extort N15m From Her Husband

A housewife conspired with others to plan her own kidnap and demanded a whooping N15m king size ransom from her husband.

Hadijat Kabir had been married to her husband for 27 years with four children between them.

One of the children was also”kidnapped”

hadijat said she planned her own abduction because her husband, Muraino Kabir, was not taking good care of her.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest.

Briefing newsmen on Monday in Lagos, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said the suspect’s husband, Kabir Muraino, had reported the case at Ikotun Police Station before the suspect was arrested.

“On Aug. 2, 2018 at about 3:30pm, one Alhaji Kabir Muraino of Governor’s Road, Ikotun, reported at Ikotun Police Station that his wife, Hadijat Kabir, and daughter, Hamidat Kemi, who is of unsound mind, were kidnapped same date on their way to Psychiatric Hospital, Oshodi, Lagos.

“That the kidnappers were demanding for the sum of N15million before the hostages would be released. Based on this, I directed the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to ensure speedy rescue of the hostages and arrest of the suspects.

“Investigation revealed that the kidnappers were making their demands from a community in Ogun State, called Ado-Odo, Ado–Odo Ota LGA.



“The operatives of the squad mobilized to the area and busted the camp of the kidnappers. The hostages were rescued and two suspects were arrested, while the rest fled the scene.

“When one of the hostages, Hadijat Kabir was being debriefed, she confessed that she planned her kidnap with the suspects arrested, to defraud her husband,” he said.

Imohimi said the case was under investigation with a view to arresting the other fleeing suspects.


Greenwich Labour Councillor Charged With Fraud

A Greenwich councillor has been accused of fraud and perverting the course of justice.

Tonia Ashikodi, who was one of the black candidates elected for the Labour Party in Glyndon ward in May 2016, is charged with two counts of fraud by misrepresentation in applications to Greenwich Council for housing in October 2008 and May 2012.

She is also charged with perverting the course of justice in May 2018.

Ashikodi, 29, was due to appear alongside her 49-year-old father, Tony Ashikodi.

But Bexley magistrates were told that Greenwich Council, which is bringing the case against her, had agreed to adjourn the case because she had booked a holiday.

Tony Ashikodi, who lives in Thamesmead, is charged with perverting the course of justice at the same time.

The charges were brought by Greenwich Council after an investigation into property ownership and Tonia Ashikodi’s tenancy of a council home.

The hearing has been adjourned until Monday 20 August, magistrates in Bexleyheath heard this morning.

A close friend of Ashikodi’s said “It a very sad news and as a Nigerian I am short of words.
I have spoken to her and she told me it was not true but she has left in the hands of God and justice system to bring out the truth”.
