At least 8 have been killed and many more seriously injured when a man driving a rental truck plowed into pedestrians and cyclists on a jogging and bike path in lower Manhattan in New York City Tuesday afternoon,  in what the mayor is calling a “cowardly act of terror.”

The sprawling crime scene runs about 10 blocks along the West Side Highway, a few blocks away from One World Trade Center.

The suspect, who was carrying a Florida ID, is in custody, police said.

The suspect is known to the authorities who have begun looking into his background.

A vehicle — a Home Depot rental truck, according to the company — entered the West Street pedestrian and bike path north of Chambers Street, hitting multiple people on the path, leaving some dead and “numerous people injured,” New York City police said, citing preliminary investigation.

The vehicle kept driving south until it hit another vehicle, police said. At that point, the suspect, who was “displaying imitation firearms,” got out of the vehicle and was shot by responding officers, authorities said.

The suspect shouted something at police when officers confronted him, according to multiple sources.

A witness described the chaotic scene to ABC’s New York station WABC, saying that after the truck hit multiple people on the bike path, it crashed into a school bus at Chambers and West streets, near Stuyvesant High School.

“Everybody started running,” the witness said. “… Everything was happening so fast.”

The witness added of the driver, “He kept going all the way down full speed.”

“Thank god the trick-or-treaters weren’t out yet,” the witness later said.

Video from the scene showed mangled bicycles strewn across the bike path.

There is no active threat, according to the mayor’s press secretary

Talk to the Person Directly

When the initial sexual harassment incident takes place, ask the person harassing you to stop. If your harasser continues displaying the same behavior, inform your harasser that you plan to file a report if the behavior continues. Some people discontinue their behavior once you threaten to report them. If the harasser fails to stop, you can take further action.

Find Other Victims and Witnesses

If you plan to file a lawsuit, you should seek legal representation from an attorney who handles sexual harassment cases.

It will also help to make a record of every single instance of harassment. If possible, make video recordings of every time you come in contact with this person and take photographs. Many perverts are encouraged by the assumption that their advances are wanted if you do not complain from the start.

Shocking footage shows the moment a plane was forced into a terrifying aborted landing after strong cross winds bounced it along a runway.

The Enter Air flight was due to land at Salzburg Airport in Austria at about 11.25am yesterday.

Footage shows the Boeing 737 decreasing altitude as it battles strong crosswinds during the landing.

Just metres from touch down, the plane’s right wing drops leaving it awkwardly trying to get the wheels down.

However, the pilot aborts the landing during the procedure – pulling the plane back up into the skies.

The right wind drops as the plane bounces off the runway

The aircraft bounced on the runway before ascending back into the sky.

The plane was said to have instead flown back to Frankfurt, Germany, where it had come from.

According to the Aviation Herald , a gust of wind caught the aircraft and caused the right wing to drop.

Surface winds had come from from 270 degrees at 26 knots gusting 46 knots, the website said.

“The Enter Air, after ATC had coordinated the return to Frankfurt, returned to Frankfurt, where the aircraft landed without further incident about 70 minutes after the go around,” the website said.

The plane for the Polish airline remained on the ground in Frankfurt for three hours before later flying to Berlin, it was reported.

Netflix has announced that it will not commission another series of House Of Cards after historical allegations were made against lead star Kevin Spacey.

The streaming platform said it was “deeply troubled” over claims that Spacey tried to sexually assault a 14-year-old boy when he was 26.

A statement jointly  released by the company and Media Rights Capital said its executives “arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported”.

It added: “As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”

But in another twist, the company has released another statement claiming that the decision to cancel the series was made long before the historical allegations against Spacey were made on Monday

The sixth series of the political thriller, which stars Spacey as a fictional US president, is currently in production and expected to air in mid-2018.

Spacey is the central character in the hugely popular political thriller series and it is also because of his skillful portrayal of the ruthless fictional President Francis Underwood that the series are successful.

In an interview published on Monday, actor Anthony Rapp told BuzzFeed News that Spacey had invited him to his apartment for a party in 1986.

Rapp, then aged 14, claimed Spacey picked him up at the end of the night, placed him on his bed and climbed on top of him – making a sexual advance.

In a statement, Spacey said he was “beyond horrified to hear (Rapp’s) story”, adding: “I honestly do not remember this encounter”.

The 58-year-old apologised “for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour” and said that he had used the allegation “to address other things about my life”.

Spacey added: “I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.

“I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behaviour.”

It has been announced that an Emmy award honouring Kevin Spacey has been revoked following an allegation he made sexual advances towards a 14-year-old boy in the 80s.

The two-time Oscar-winning actor was due to receive the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award in New York next month.

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences released a statement saying that “in light of recent events” it will be withdrawing Spacey’s honour.

An arrest warrant has been obtained for actress Rose McGowan for possession of a controlled substance.

The warrant comes from a police investigation of personal belongings left behind by the actress on a United flight arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport in Januar 2017.

Police say the items tested positive for narcotics but they did not say why the actress who is a public figure and a well known Hollywood star had not been arrested in almost a year after the warrant was issued.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department obtained the warrant on 1 February but only chose to execute the order at the time when the actress is embroiled in a battle with disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein…..

Police say they have attempted to contact McGowan so she can appear in a Virginia court. The warrant has been entered into a national law enforcement database.

McGowan has been one of the leading voices against sexual harassment in Hollywood in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Corey Feldman

Also, former child a for Corey Feldman who spoke out to blow the whistle on paedophilia in Hollywood suddenly found himself being arrested for marijuana possession.

One consolation, however is that we can be thankful the actress is not black. Lupita had better be careful else she could be find herself facing deportation – or worse still, a gun’s possession charge!!

Saudi Arabia will allow women into three sports stadiums for the first time from next year, authorities said Sunday, in a landmark move that would open up the previously male-only venues to families.

The kingdom, which has some of the world’s tightest restrictions on women, has long barred women from sports arenas by strict rules on segregation of the sexes in public but now appears to be relaxing some norms as part of its “Vision 2030” plan for economic and social reforms.

The announcement is in line with powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s ambitious reform drive shaking up the ultra-conservative kingdom, including the decision to allow women to drive from next June.

“Starting the preparation of three stadiums in Riyadh, Jeddah and Damman to be ready to accommodate families from early 2018,” the General Sports Authority said on Twitter.

Last month authorities allowed hundreds of women to throng a sports stadium in Riyadh, used mostly for football matches, for the first time to mark Saudi Arabia’s national day.

Under the country’s guardianship system, a male family member — normally the father, husband or brother — must grant permission for a woman’s study, travel and other activities.

But the kingdom appears to be relaxing some norms as part of its “Vision 2030” plan for economic and social reforms, which aims to boost female employment.

In July, rights campaigners welcomed an “overdue” reform by the education ministry to allow girls to take part in sports at state schools.
