In line with the yearly history of rich tradition of Commonwealth celebration which is geared toward the promotion of cultural values, mutual respect, global peace and prosperity and that also “cherishes equality, diversity and shared values” of all member states, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adéyeyè Enitan Ògúnwùsì (Òjàjà II) will be officially visiting the United Kingdom from 13th-25th March 2017.
The historical visit will consist of a number of events including: Commonwealth Day Celebration, Visit to Nigeria High Commission London, Lecture at Oxford University, Youth engagement and many more. Before closing with ‘An Evening with His Imperial Majesty’, royal dinner gala night organised by Ooni of Ife Global Outreach on Friday 24th March 2017, with cultural performances and special guests.
Mr. Rotimi Osobemekun, Global Outreach executive director spoke on this visit saying: “This is a truly historic visit which we are excited about and it will form a huge part in His Imperial Majesty global outreach legacy. He stated further, over the period of this historical visit, His Imperial Majesty will engage mainstream British cultural leaders, heritage institutions, diplomatic circles and academics to discuss issues of mutual interest, partnership, collaboration, academic transformational networks while rebuilding the scale of support for entrepreneurship skills that are modern, creative and innovative. His engagement will stimulate further cooperation between Yoruba nation and the United Kingdom by promoting Yoruba culture as a genuine catalyst for British government cultural integration projects.
His Imperial Majesty Oba Ògúnwùsì (Òjàjà II) iconic global outreach cultural heritage initiative is a new chapter of triumphant for Yoruba culture fostering inter-cultural dialogue and community cohesion. In tandem with his practice as the Spiritual father to Yoruba subjects and black people in the United Kingdom, he will be reaching out to millions of them by promoting unity, harmony and delivering the message of inclusiveness and oneness. Ensuring a sustainable future for Yoruba unity, culture and heritage preservation are part of his Imperial Majesty royal core values and should also be of immense concern to all those who care for the preservation of Yoruba heritage spirit, soul and memory.
The hallmark of this historical visit is the Grand celebratory Royal dinner and the maiden Ojaja II Global Heritage Award, planned by the Ooni of Ife Global Outreach (OIGO).
