Police were called to Eynsham Drive at 6.15pm last night (September 4).
An 11-year-old pedestrian was found seriously injured after being hit by a silver Skoda Fabia.
The injured child was taken by London’s Air Ambulance to a central London hospital where she remains in a serious condition.
Police say the driver of the Skoda failed to stop at the scene and the car was found abandoned near to the scene a short time later.
A man was arrested later yesterday evening on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and he remains in custody at a south London police station.
This is not the first time a child has been hit by a car in this area – a 15-year-old girl is currently “learning to walk” again after a crash last month in Penmon Road at the junction with Eynsham Drive.
